Dr. AmanDUHHHH

Without getting into the Hows and Whys, I saw Twilight last Friday.

Four days later, I still can't recover from how stupid it was.

Shiny skin.
Sparkly.
"Like diamonds."
Why?

You're a vampire and when you step into sunlight your skin glistens like it's been slathered in George Michael's diamond cream. Really. That's it? What is that about!?

No politics here!

I spent not one minute flipping through photos of Paul Newman in various movie roles before realizing that I've never seen a Paul Newman movie. What failure!

Where to start?

Speaking of America, MLB playoffs start tomorrow! And the Dodgers are in it!
to!

WIN!!!!
IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited! My first playoffs ever!

Meanwhile, I have thought up a short list for you.

People who are hot but also not hot:

-Sam Riley. I just finished watching Control (hot). And then I thought about posting a photo of him on here so I searched for one online (not hot). Dude looks like a different person at every angle.

-Cillian Murphy. Same problem as Sam Riley except worse--looks hot sometimes, not at all other times. 28 days later, hot. Batman Begins, not hot.

-Don Draper. I don't remember what his real name is but he is the lead in "Mad Men." Honestly, I wasn't into him at all throughout the first season. Actor or character, I'm not sure which wasn't doing it for me then. "I would not date him!" I said to myself. But I get it now. I get what all the fuss is about!

-Malcolm McDowell. Young (circa late '60s/early '70s) = hot! Old (circa "Heroes" and "Entourage") = not hot! Although I do love my Vater Orlaag.

-Keanu Reeves. Kind of hot when you think about him, but not at all hot when you actually look at him.

-Matt Damon. Really, though.

-James McAvoy. I hate him! But I can't not watch. I think it's his eyes. Stupid jerk!

"murder by weens"

i just made (heated up) two sausages on the stove. this is my 7th time making sausages and this is my 7th time burning sausages.

i'm now trying to air the dethsmoke out of my apartment. it is making me dizzy. like, really dizzy.

my roommate retired to her room about an hour ago so i hope she's not dying in her sleep as i write this.

also, i'm trying to watch jesus camp right now but it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy giving me the crazies. i have to stop watching every 15 or so minutes. i'm not sure if i can finish it. the dethsmoke is not helping.

slippy slips

'30s

satin
sheer
floral

pretty underthings

i watched atonement recently and a couple of the costumes really stuck with me.

i liked the movie more than i thought i would. inna's been writing essays on the novel for her english class so, being her proofreader, i had an idea of how the story went before i watched it.

knowing what i do about the novel, just the idea of adapting it for the screen seems so ambitious that i admire the movie for being at least decent. also, parts of it were really beautiful.

yesterday, i watched sweeney todd (horrible, except for hot alan rickman) and la vie en rose (i love tragic-life-story movies). today i watched american gangster (entertaining but also like a shittified version of the wire, season 1).

soon, no country for old men and the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford.

i want to watch more older movies though... never had any closure with my werner herzog obsesh. need to get some rainer werner fassbinder in there, too.

the other day i watched "the battle for citizen kane" and it made me feel really small. but also sane.

and, like most movies about movies, it made me want to make movies. (WHY???)

breakdancin's where it's at

c'mon, beat street!

i appreciate new old school because i too wish we could bring a part of the hip-hop scene back to its glory days, but i don't like it. it seems to be all appearance... and even then the styles i've seen are so calculated and overdone.

old old school was all about attitude.

RAMOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo

all i want right now is '80s old school hip-hop.

for this i owe my cousin emil and the ol' hip-hop classics he showed me back in high school.

i almost teared up watching this:

dd-l

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

so i watched there will be blood on saturday night... which i really think was incredible in its own particular and almost unparalleled way. anyway, people going crazy-- that is my raison d'etre, right? and oooooooooh did they go crazy in this one.

daniel day-lewis
-is hot
-blows my mind every time i hear his real voice
-was INSANE in that last scene, which i feel like watching over and over right now

certain things about the movie were confusing to me, i must say. maybe i'm looking for too complex of answers? but seriously though. the really big dd-l scenes, esp. the last one, are soooo worth... everything.

must watch all dd-l movies now

real boyfriends

i could stay up all night every night watching movies... huy and i watched rescue dawn tonight! which was not what i thought it was going to be (a war movie) so at first i was like, "huh?" and then i was like, "yessssssssssss." <3

after that, i think i need to watch a bunch of werner herzog movies. starting backwards-ish... so right now i am downloading grizzly man. and by association i also want to watch some fassbinder and wim wenders...

note: i owe this growing interest in german new wave films in large part to my brother howie.

the good news is that my christian bale obsession is finally settling. these past couple of days i've been trying to OD on ol' chr. bale before zuhair starts to hate him as a person. haha! boyfriends!
